SAFETY & SECURITY
The cost effective application of clear performance
safety film to glazing can transform glass to provide:
- "Safe Break" glass
- Protection from flying glass in the
event of an explosion - bomb blast
- Protection from burglaries, vandalism,
and bandit attacks
- Protection from spontaneous breakage
of toughened safety glass
|
| |
Workplace (Health,
Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 (Regulation 14)stipulate
that a Risk Assessment must be carried out in all workplaces
to identify that all low level glazing is of a "safe break"
nature. Areas of greatest risk will be windows up to waist
height and shoulder height in or near doors.
If an accident on your property results
in injury from unsafe glass, you can be prosecuted.
Manx will carry out a free of charge risk
assessment survey.

In todays world protection from bomb blast is a major
concern, and in the event of a blast flying glass from
a glazed structure or panel can be lethal. Home Office
Guidelines in terms of bomb blast protection recommend
the use of anti-shatter film - safety film.
Many buildings in central London had this type of film
applied in the late 80's and early 90's and this film
may now be "past its best sell by date" and
in addition will not now probably
comply with the latest Home Office Guidelines. |
|
| |
| |
At
Manx we could arrange for peel tests on your existing anti-shatter
film and/or advise on how to comply with the latest Home Office
recommendations. |

By
applying various constructions of safety film to glazing you
can achieve various levels of protection in terms of slowing
down unwanted intruders or vandals.
There have been incidences of toughened
glass breaking in a spontaneous situation (due to nickel sulphide
inclusions) and this could be dangerous in an overhead situation
e.g. a retail shopping mall. Safety film and an anchorage
system have proved to hold glass and frame together in this
situation.
LLumar® performance films by CPFilms
have been extensively tested to the new European impact testing
standards (for glazing and applied window film glazing) -
BSEN12600 - and we can produce test certificates accordingly
which will give you the confidence in Manx and Llumar®
